I have found exactly one person in the many thousands I have met and known who was capable of having and honest intellectual conversation. Exactly one. Everyone else I have spoken to gets upset because they can't handle their own beliefs to be challenged or gets upset when they themselves start to question their own beliefs. I don't argue with a person past the very first sign of any kind of emotional irrationality, egotism, agenda following, bias blindness, lack of sufficient knowledge, or anything that suggests they are arguing to "win" rather than seek truth.
Just say "Well thanks for the chat" and walk away. It's not worth the mental power to fight against people who are only interested in personal validation of thier own unique version of truth. It's more productive to talk to yourself or the sky than such people.
