What novel feels like jazz? Fast jazz not the slow kind.

Bebop jazz isn't the only type of fast jazz retard. I'm not looking for jazz with bebop aesthetic.

What about hot jazz? The old Squirrel Nut Zippers kind?

Jazz always makes me think of urban settings, but set in their various time periods from the 20s to the early 60s

“Fast jazz” isn’t a genre I’ve heard of. All I can think of is a laid back tropical setting with that Getz/Gilberto album there.
SNZ is fast jazz. You want some prohibition gangster stuff?

You mean hard bop right? Or modal? Or bop? Bossa nova is slow and is what is pictured. Same with Smooth or cool. Man you know nothing of the Jazz

Hey, does anyone here actually LIKE freeform jazz? I mean, when im in a VERY specific mood sure, but 95 % of the time its kinda obnoxious.

I think the only time I liked it consistently was when I watched Gundam Thunderbolt since it plays into the plot and feel of the whole setting.

eric dolphy is the best american jazz artist beside sun ra
yes he is not full on free jazz
yet you have to be in a certain mood for the full on free jazz
free jazz by ornette is fucking incredible if youre in the mood for testing your pattern recognition
Honestly enjoy free jazz the most when my thoughts are the most distraught, at such a point the cacophony is soothing and I can see past the initial wall of dissonance

very interesting question.
V. by Thomas Pynchon felt jazzy to me (the New York chapters at least), but it was more like cool jazz or modal jazz.
The Great Gatsby also comes to mind if you're into early jazz

>>14193971
definitely, although I'd say it's more like free jazz.

What the fuck? He explicitly said that his prose is meant to be read to the rhythm of jazz. Just listen to this.
