Beyond Good and Evil. Also, I would highly recommend you go with The Genealogy of Morality first, most any translation would do but some of the more modern editions are very revised, I've been told at least. It matters little if you're religious or anything, there will still be difficult concepts to deal with if you are when reading but most non-retards can handle it. With that book you can not read Zarathustra or Beyond Good and Evil if you should wish to skip them and get a similar but much more concise version of what you really, really need to know about history, philosophy, art, psychology, politics, etc.

Of course they offered solutions, Marxism was highly successful in places like the Soviet Union and continues to be successful in China and North Korea.

The "famines" caused in the Soviet Union were because the Kulaks burned down their own farms and destroyed all of the food, after Stalin offered to buy the farms off of them and compensate them for their crops. But for the most part the Soviet Union was a good place to live.

Similar famines in North Korea have occured because of trade sanctions placed on the countries by wealthy Capitalist Nations.
