Proof that you never read his trilogy. Orestes isn't a god. He made a choice in which either option would have been wrong, and was punished for it. That led to a trial involving Athene and Apollo on either side, and resulted in changing the function of the Furies.

Aeschylus wrote the play as an appeal to democracy (Sparta had just defeated the Delian league) and men's rights (the Spartans granted women ownership over their unborn, which Athenians deemed inappropriate).

Besides the virgin birth why do people think they're the same?

it's a reference to Nietzsche's "the crucified vs. dionysus" how new are you?

People like a tragic figure, and people enjoy drinking with friends. Dionysus is always shown to be the newest of the Olympians. The same could be said about Hercules except that the point of Hercules are his exploits as a mortal man.

Simply put: Zeus rapes a woman, Hera jealously tricks the woman into getting Zeus to swear on the Styx to show himself to her in his full glory. The woman sees Zeus as he is and burns to ashes, but Zeus saves the unborn Dionysus by sewing him into his own thigh. Much like Athene, Dionysus springs to life fully grown and glorious. As the god who simultaneously lost his mother and his chilshood, the Dionysus would have appealed to soldiers as well.

That's an overview of the general myth. Dionysus has his own cults and plays, and is usually shown to be as terrible as his fellow gods. In Euripides's The Bacchae he is upset that his mom is no longer worshipped at the place where she died. He comes dancing into town with his harem, hangs out with the king who doesn't believe him to be a god despite numerous dire warnings. The king ends up being torn limb from limb and mostly devoured by the harem. The king is carried home in his mother's arms (literally) while she eats him like chicken.

I wasn’t calling him a god. No, the choice he made was wrong, and it wasn’t Apollo and Athena on opposing sides. “Athena” was chosen as judge, IE patriarchal Athens chose wrong in the end.

What exactly are your reasoning for this?

Some aspects of Dionysus’s story were grafted onto the Jesus story by the cult’s founders. Same as Mithridates
