Are you looking for instruction on how to have a religious experience, or reports of such experiences?

I encourage not to delve into this. Modern media and modernism in general have created an extremely warped understanding of the supernatural and the spiritual. You get a lot of books like >>14176315, or else you get modern occultism which is really foolish, or perhaps you'll get into new age crockery, or yoga. Recognize that every religious text has its origins in what the authors believed to be religious experience. Everyone who participates in any religion has what would properly be called a religious experience. If you really want to understand a particular religious experience, you need to actually read the foundational material. With all this said, religion is not something to trifle with. As I Catholic, I would like to express what I say is the truth. I doubt you would accept it on those terms, so at least believe me when I say that religious thought and practice does not develop accidentally. A materialist perspective cannot prepare you for real engagement with spiritual thought. If you do not guard yourself, you will be taken in by it.

Of course, if you guard yourself to it in materialism, you will not be able to understand it. If you open your mind to the immaterial, what will you have to guard yourself with? If you come across deceit, how will you be able to recognize it? If you get carried away, how will you know that you have found what is true and not a shadow of truth?
