Does anyone else get a laugh out of writing or reading mean comments about dead philosophers? Just the idea of calling Voltaire or Kant stupid, knowing full well they were far smarter than me, and them not being able to react despite their superior intellect (because they’re dead) is incredibly satisfying.

No, not really, anon. That's a cool sense of humor, though.

You shouldn't disrespect the dead.

Why? What are they gonna do? Get mad about it?

Thanks anon

I know, but I feel that part of the humour comes from the disrespect. The idea that, even though these men were great figures in their time, I can go and defame them on an obscure imageboard via mediums they couldn’t even comprehend whilst myself only being a fraction of the men they were is hilarious.
>>14160055
I wouldn’t call it brainletism. I respect these guys for their actual thoughts (excluding Voltaire). I think it’s more akin to intellectual vandalism or grave-defacing, but with a sardonic twist.

Life is funny like that. People shouldn’t take things so seriously.

For me it’s saying classical authors that eveybody likes are no good and saying that some obscure author is better.

I mean in my lonely and failed life it’s one of the only pleasures I have.

I like this too, although sometimes it feels like you're laughing at the readers for not reading the obscure author, rather than laughing at the dead author for being worse than some guy he'd likely never even heard of while he was alive.

Of course. Part of the knowledge of my inferiority is what makes it so funny. I am like a sparrow sitting atop the grave of a lion and laughing at his useless jaws and blunted claws.

I sure as hell hope so. There aren't as many psued posts as there used to be here but everytime I see some fool with tunnel vision proclaiming he or she knows the answer to a panorama I get a little worried for humanity. Easier for me to believe people here are trolling.

One day, humanity will be gone, and all the greatest thinkers of our specie will disappear with it. There's no point in achieving "neverending" fame.

I see this type of behavior all the time on /lit/ but I never thought you guys were self aware. I always thought that reducing an author's entire lifetime of work to either "CRINGE" or "BASED" was hilarious but I was laughing at you guys, not with you.

How can you read someone calling Hume 'cringe fatty' or Kant 'cringe manlet goblin' and not immediately assume it's not said without just a hint of jest? At least, now you know that we're smart after all, you can join in.
