I have. It's both a political and a character study centred around the Night of the Long Knives. In very brief summary it's about Hitler's elimination of the Left and Right extremes of the NSDAP (personified by Strasser and Rohm respectively) in order to secure the support of the German industrial capitalists (represented by Gustav Krupp) in 1934. The character whose 'friend' is Hitler is Rohm, leader of the SA and also the real protagonist of the play, who's portrayed in an ultimately tragic light. The drama is Strasser confronting Rohm with evidence that Hitler is going to eliminate him, but Rohm remaining tragically convinced that Hitler is his friend. The very last scene in the play is Hitler setting into motion the Night of the Long Knives.

It's pretty good. Almost Brechtian at parts but without Brecht's autism. I'd recommend that collection to anyone who likes Mishima.

I have not heard anything about it being banned in Japan. Mishima playing Hitler I also don't know about, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Rohm deserved his fate. He had been warned by the ss and party brass to cut back on his antics multiple times. In fact it was his old friendship with Hitler that got him spared for so long.

It was Adolf Hitler who sent Subhash to Japan to persuade them to attack from the other side.

The idea that you are special needs some way to be proved, and argumentation is a very sophisticated way to prove it. The sword is not a very sophisticated way to prove that you are true, but argument is. It looks very cultured, but deep down the game is the same - just the same ego, the same trip. It is unfortunate that in India no Socrates happened.

I have been meeting these world teachers, and they have become so settled with the idea of their being world teachers - now it is inherited. But it was not a question of truth; it was the way he was speaking - that he was the world teacher_.

It's not banned in Japan, it's even in the "Complete Works of Mishima Yukio".

Mishima did at some point also play the role of Hitler, but only a few times. Later they casted an actual actor for the job.
