lots of studies show that if you don't start learning a second and even third language before you're 12 or so it becomes vastly harder to pick up other languages once you're an adult. Basically the mind locks itself into one language instead of being open to many.

once you are an adult people think you should be more than happy to learn a language starting with the dative, accusitive, perfect past tense, and gender, as if thats in any way a normal way to learn a language, beginning with its internal logic
