14105915 No.14105915 [Reply] [Original]

Did Jesus have free will? He was sinless, yet some Christians say that sin and evil exist because God made humans with free will. But if we are so free, why can’t we be like Jesus? If I know that it is best to follow God and keep the commandments, then why do I still fail? Why can no one be perfect like him?

>But if we are so free, why can’t we be like Jesus?

You can. That's part of why they want to kill him.

>> No.14106002

>>14105915
Yes, Jesus had free will, but he lived a perfect life. We can't do the same because we aren't perfect like Jesus. We have a sinful nature because of the Fall.

The Jews had to keep the law, and were judged by the law. But even though the spirit wants to do good, the flesh sins. However, we are judged by our spirit, and can be saved through our faith in Christ. Even though we don't need to do good works to be saved, the Holy Spirit can radically transform even the worst sinners into followers of Christ who spread goodness.

Your question shows exactly why we need a saviour. Not only can nobody be perfect, most people are murderers and don't even know it. Jesus said that being angry with your brother is the same as murdering him. This can be understood by looking at genocide scholars. They all agree that 99% of people will become murderers in totalitarian regimes. So mere circumstances reveal why we can't save ourselves.

> free will

Such a lame meme. Totally incoherent concept .

>> No.14106017

What makes you think he was perfect?

Remember the episode in John 8 where the Pharisees brought the adulterer before Jesus and he averted his eyes and drew in the sand and said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". No one threw a stone, not even Jesus. He felt lust for her. He was not perfect, but he had Gnosis

>> No.14106022

So do we have the same amount of free will as Jesus or are we less free due to our sinful nature? Or do we have no free will? Even Jesus was tempted, as we are, but I’ve never heard of anyone that can freely change his will based on his wisdom of what is good and bad. We should be sinless, at least in our actions.

>> No.14106027

>>14106017
Either way, the point is that we are nothing close to him. So what accounts for this difference? Why aren’t we free to be like him? Surely out of all the people in the world, some would freely choose to NOT sin?

These are deep questions that can't be answered quickly. Years are needed to graps the answers. Throwing around words like free will, even suggesting there is an 'amount' of it shows ignorance.

These are old old things we've been asking ourselves for thousands of years. But if you are to follow the example of Jesus you should be true to yourself and not be afraid to speak the truth and to keep your dignity even if it leads to your death because that is where you will find your life.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE WILL

Omg the brainelets I must encounter daily still discoursing with such weak and plainly deficient categories, appending the word "free" to the word "will" like a blindfolded child trying to pin the tail on the donkey but pinning it instead into his own wretched foot.

> Muh free will

There is only God's will, or corrupted will, the perverted desires of darkened minds. If we were conscious of the true nature of the objects of our desires we would die of shame. But our blindness both condemns us to remain in slavery and saves us from a living hell. God help us.

Ok, so for the most part, things seem determined, but there’s some sort of “randomness” in the quantum realm or something. Why does that matter? That’s not an explanation at all. How is it possible that there are possible paths for us to choose? If I rewound time, would I ever make a unique decision than I did originally? Why? If our actions are just probabilistic like that, then it seems those alternative paths are only possible due to randomness. How could I do otherwise than what I want? And how can I choose what I want?

If we have free will, then why does procrastination exist? Why can’t I use my rational understanding of things to mold my will into something I know will be good for me? This should be easy, automatic. Everything I do should be as preferable as eating with an empty stomach, if I were free to make it so.

The book argues for a compatabalist-libertarian notion of free will. Whether the author proves is it is for you to decide
>"Free will, on the account I have proposed, requires three things: intentional agency, alternative possibilities, and causal control over one’s actions. Any organism or entity that meets these requirements has free will. And I have argued that human beings, by and large, meet all three requirements: they are intentional agents, have alternative possibilities, and exercise causal control over their actions. So, they have free will."

Herein lies the secrets of the Great Mystery :
Jesus was born a mere mortal like the rest of us, but ascended to Godhood, by surrendering his will to the divine. The Hindus call the blessed state sahaja samadhi, a permanent state of divine awareness. Unlike other mystics, Jesus became aware of the Logos (Divine Idea) or Divine Will of God.

We are all called to walk in the steps of Jesus. Become as He was. "Seek after the kingdom of heaven." "Behold, the kingdom of heaven is within you." "To enter the kingdom you must be reborn." etc...

The First Christ's mission was one of mercy and salvation. While the Second Christ's mission is one of justice and retribution.
"You will do greater works than I." "When the spirit of truth comes it will reprove the world in regards to righteousness, sin and judgement."

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were good-hearted Rocky Balboa types (the Old first Rocky). Not much of a difference between them really. The early first century Roman system for collecting taxes lent itself to excess, exploitation, and corruption. Consider the structure in 24 CE. The Italian government 'bid out' the right to collect taxes in a region of the empire. Rome's government would say, We need 'x' amount of revenue from this region of the empire. Wealthy people (mob bosses) would bid on the right to collect (shake down) taxes in that region. Anything they collected above the Italian government's demand was their profit (the take). The Roman regional collectors often would hire managers (gangsters) in specific districts of the region (such as Zacchaeus) for the shake down. The man would have a specific sum he must collect in the district. Anything he collected above that sum was kept (his take). These managers would hire local Italian gangs in their district to do the actual collecting (like Matthew's gang). It was their job to actually collect (shake down) amounts assigned by their managers (gangsters). If they collected more than the managers requested, the amount they collected above what was required was kept (their take). It does not require a genius to imagine how Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, functionally illiterate Rocky Balboas, worked. Roman Catholic Church is rooted from this origin of the Italian (Roman) mob, their bosses, good-hearted thugs like Matthew, the functionally illiterate tax collector, and good-natured associates, like Mark the missionary, Luke the slave physician and John the fisherman. These four were all debt collectors actually, not one of them a capable author.

TO ELABORATE:

The innocence of Jesus is not exceptional, per God, but it is so common that it is implicit to Man, regardless of what is implicit to God. Much like most work is for mitigating the bad consequences of yesterday's work and for preparation for tomorrow's work, what is done for today being all but nothing, evil is likewise done for revenge for evil or for prevention of evil, what is evil in and of a man is practically nothing. That ANYONE can realize this and live it, makes the sinning that much more pointless, and obstinence therein that much more exasperating for the sinner. So much so that you would sooner kill whoever calls it to attention.

If we were truly free then there would be no reason that we could be like Jesus. To assert simultaneously that we have free will and that it is impossible to be good all the time is a contradiction. Rather, the Bible is clear that our natures are bent towards evil and that of ourselves we are even slaves to sin. Does that sound like free will to you? Again modern day Christians are brainlets.
>If I know that it is best to follow God and keep the commandments, then why do I still fail? Why can no one be perfect like him?
Read Romans. Paul directly tackles these questions.

Okay? All that matters is that things are determined by forces beyond our control. Whether or not the universe is statistical or set doesn't even matter. Brainlets abound.

How could you even possible prove these things lol? All of this comes down to "because I say so". How can you possibly prove that we have causal control over our actions when you can't even indicate what the self is? WHAT IS IT that has causal control? Is it material? Then it is determined by forces outside of its control. Is it spiritual? Then it is unobservable. Just complete retardation.

Jawohl, mein Kommandant, diese Blaustein-Betonkernproben von beiden
Standorten weisen Anzeichen eines Zusammenbruchs auf, der sich
stark oder extrem verschlechtert. Und das war vor fünfundvierzig
(45) Jahren? Du meine Güte.

He had a bit of free will but he clearly said that he had a mission and he followed that mission (sometimes like a sperg and sometimes he wasnt able to handle it)
Why can no one be perfect like him?
1. its boring but we have a freepass to act like retards if we are able to repent (i almost kill a guy for pushing me because i was really mad, stressed, in those days of high T and my mind "was in another place", i couldnt control myself plus im almost bipolar like my dad)
2. he wasnt perfect
3. Watch Don Quixote de la Mancha or just listen the song if you want to chase giants
