Am I the only one who has realized that Spengler is right about everything?

The Faustian civilization that we live in is in unavoidable decline.

The glory of 'Western' (Faustian) culture ended with the last of its significant philosophers in Nietzsche and Marx.

When a blooming culture begins to die it become a civilization. It expands in all directions for no reason other than to compensate for its lack of internal innovation. It loses all of its vitality and inner cohesion, a grand palace that's all rotting in the inside. It looks big and powerful but will get pushed over by a stiff breeze. Spengler said that the Roman Empire, despite its apparent might, was never able to win a war against a major power after its final victory over Carthage, where it began to decline. The 'West' is that exact same way ever since the Second World War. A big, bloated corpse waiting for someone to poke it for it to explode.

And just in case you call me a smug Asian insectoid gloating at the fall of the West, I genuinely mourn your death because when you're gone it's game over for us too. Democracy, civilization, individualism, all gone. Unless a miracle happens the fall of the West will usher in a millenium of regression and savage tyranny that will cover the entire world.

His analysis is full of shit, based on obsolete research and the neuroses of his time.

If you understood anything about Spengler you should realize the cycle will just start anew. Whether it is China or some other country, someone else will fill the void left behind by present-day America and Western Europe. Then that new culture will evolve into a civilization and the cycle goes on and on until the death of the Sun puts everyone out of their misery on this godforsaken rock.

I'm 100 pages into Decline of the west and it's kinda dumb

I like reading it for his analysis on math and some interesting observations on history but it's just a thesis. Also he revises parts of his thesis in his "Technics" book he wrote after Decline.

Spengler also predicted that after "The West" collapses in 2200, Russia will rise up to replace it. I am fine with this, I think everyone is disgusted with America as a global power at this point.

His opinion is that Orthodox Catholicism would preserve Russia and grow into something incredible as Russia becomes the new superpower.

All of these predictions seem ridiculous to me. Seems like all civilizations waiver here and there. At the time of the Crusades, Europeans thought doomsday was on the horizon. It is yet to be seen how the internet will be utilized by westerners going into the future as well.

Civilization is like opera or test cricket. It is always being pronounced to be in irreversible decline compared to some golden age of the past. You could even argue that the defining feature of civilization, something it must have to be considered a civilization at all, would be to believe itself to be in decline.
