Good books on psychology? I'm specifically looking for something that tells you how to deal with stress, depression and anxiety.
Although not a book on psychological behaviour (in a way it is) but I read Aurelius' Meditations and it helped me deal with some situations and thoughts.
A friend of mine recommended "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by D. Kahneman, but it sounds like bullshit. Should I check it out?

Thinking fast and slow by Kahneman is actually quiet good. Although it focuses mainly on behavioural economics and behavioural finance, therefore it is nothing what you search.

If you look for books that tell you how to deal with stress then you could check further stoic literature such as the writings of Epictetus, Seneca and Cicero. You could also check out Epicurus and epicurean literature.

Another good source would be books and texts about buddhism and hinduism such as: Dhammapada, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, etc.

Another good source might be philosophy and existential literature. Maybe you want to check out Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Camus and Dostoevsky.

Hope and Help for Your Nerves by Dr. Claire Weekes. Every CBT doctor who knows what they're talking about essentially just repeats what she's already said when treating anxiety disorders. GPs don't like it because they just want to shove meds down your throat.

I would strongly recommend checking it out.

spinozas ethics has been the best book in dealing with this kind of shit for me, as has deleuze's secondary work on it "spinoza: practical philosophy". spinozas entire project is based around undoing these negative thought patterns and making a free man out of oneself

>>14083850
as anon says here, early ancient practical philosophy + buddhist texts are also quite helpful
