I believe my family from my father's side is mostly from sephardic jew descent, but the types who converted to christianity during inquistion. If I were to make one of these DNA tests, and found out that is true, I wouldn't be considered jew, right? Since it's from my father side.

The first thing to learn about Judaism, it’s not about what you know about it, it’s the community that is around it. Get involved in the community.

The first thing you should do ISN’T read the Old Testament (should stop calling it old) or Siddur. Go to a Rabbi (if your on a campus look for a Chabad, if not that then maybe there is atleast a Hillel). Join a Shabbat dinner and prayer (you don’t actually need to pray but learning some of the songs is culturally important). Take a Birthright trip to Israel. Get to know the Jews around your area. Meanwhile you can read the Torah. Watch YouTube videos, read some Wikipedia. There’s good books to read too but I’ve never gone out of my way to read them. The most important part is just getting involved directly. Reading a bunch of books will just make you a Jew from afar.

I see, but that's quite not my case. For as long as I've read, I would be what's called a "bnei anusim". My family have been catholic for countless generations before, not the case of mixed parents. People who are bnei anusim in my country are forming communities, and they are asked to convert to be considered jew by other jews. Most of them do because they dream of fleeing the country to Portugal or Israel.

My family is not from that state, but came from the same region:

Since I have no contact with other jews, there's not even a synagogue in my city, I think that it wouldn't make sense for me to convert. I guess the question is more like in the lines of bnei anusim being jews or not.
