That I've read recently, Livia Llewellyn and Nicole Cushing have some pretty good spooky stuff.

Schnittke was the best composer of the second half of the 20th century.

Rautavaara and Part come close, but Schnittke's genius was too varied, and full of constrasting enchantments. I consider him similar to Ezra Pound in his capacity to be as modern as possible and yet absorb the full richness of tradition.
