What are /lit/'s favorite discworld novels? I've only ever read men at arms.

Pyramids is a great starter, also guards, guards. My boomer parents loved 'Small gods' when I recommended it to them. It touches themes of religion, meaning, unironically Greek philosophy. Funny as hell, the premise is there's a whole pantheon of Gods on discworld, similar to the Greek ones. They grow in magnificence and power in proportion to their number of believers. Brutha, a monk novice in the church of the mighty god Om, one day finds a small, speaking (only to him), loud mouthed turtle, claiming to be Om himself. It turns out that due to the institutionalisation of belief in Om, originally a god of pastors living in tribal groups, and the subsequent formation of a clerical bureaucracy type state (many humorous allusions to the Catholic church and papacy), there is only ONE true believer in him that's left to give him the spiritual alimentation her requires, which is the young, simpleton Brutha, the only one who exhibits a whole hearted true belief in the stories and legends, and whose belief is the thread keeping Om from plunging into non existence entirely. It is a unique, extremely entertaining book I would recommend to anyone minorly interested in religion.

The Truth

Honestly, I think the Night Watch is probably the best one objectively speaking, but my favourite is definitely the Monstrous Regiment.
