What is this horrible list?
There are maybe five good books on the list

>Harry Potter
>No Pinecone
>No Houllebecq

It's the Guardian, anon, what did you fucking expect?

Besides, we all should know by now that literaly critics are worthless 90% of the time, and that lists such as this one are all based on the market value and agreement with contemporary political views that these books present, not with their aesthetical or literaly value.

Stop worrying about these actual-pseuds and go read something you value, anon.

The Guardians caters to the soccer mom liberal crowd. Not exactly /lit/.

>> No.14013781

This list is the definition of affirmative action.

If you actually took this as an authority you would think that white men cannot write, but it’s clear that the agenda has made them not consider white men for the top spot.

Not really true - The Guardian is probably one of the biggest ‘culture’ papers in the country, and publishes lots of stuff that would strike a chord with /lit/. What is true, though, is that these lists are designed entirely for the soccer mom demographic.

I've never seen them publish anything that wasn't braindead garbage

A Little Life
Coraline
Capital in the 21st Century
My Brilliant Friend
Austerlitz
Never Let Me Go
Secondhand Time
Wolf Hall

are all really good. List is still trash tho.

>> No.14013960

Oh look its another "/lit/ doesnt read contemporary fiction, and thus labels it all trash" thread.

Wrong, this is just bad contemp lit. Bourgeois and lowbrow e.g. coralline, wolf hall

It's about critisizing the improper selection, not the attempt itself. And I think it's legit opinion for the list of 100 books between 20 years. 5 books per year pool is too loose to make mistake.

>>14013960
Let's not overcomplicate it. Just no 2666 and Never let me go is top 10. That's it.

How did Harry Potter become such a prominent social phenomenon? What caused it to catch on as much as it did? Why do its fans obsess over it so much? I just dont understand
