Only the individual matters.

Anybody else lost all respect for him lately? His voice also has lost the assertive tone he used to have and it is more and more reminding one of Kermit the Frog.

There was a time I used to think he was what Nietzsche described as a dancing star, but not anymore.

What's with the Kermit voice though? It's creepy

Peterson should stick to psychology because he doesn't understand shit about philosophy. He criticizes postmodernists for undermining truth and rationality while praising Nietzsche and being an american pragmatist himself. He appears to think Nietzsche was a moral realist. He agrees with Dostoevsky that without God everything is permitted, but can't argue the position for shit. He doesn't understand what the world ontological means, yet that doesn't stop him from using it.

never said you should clean your room if you're suffering form a mental breakdown or illness, has always advocated for going to a doctor
>>becomes a drug addict
he took prescribed medication and has never been anti medication

why is this bad? can people not have emotions?

that being said peterson is a psued who falls into the category of internet philosophers like russell brand and elliott hulse, they gain a following then pivot to philosophy because it's a hugely growing market that anyone can seem credible in since you can just give vague platitudes knowing full well anyone who calls you out on it will be met by your fans claiming they just don't understand there are plenty of reasons to hate peterson but the fact he had a shitty doctor who he trusted and is a human aren't them

People that bag on Peterson are >resentful< failures I imagine. Like, stop being a faggot and get some friends.

People really love to beat on a caricature of DJP, like he has made a career of passing himself off as an Ubermensch and is now being revealed as a hypocritical wimp. The dude is accidentally famous. He only got international attention because the attempts to demonize him for opposing that transgender language bill unintentionally gave air time to a man who was way more articulate and intelligent than the run-of-the-mill SJW opponent, with the added defense of having hundreds of hours of his opinions readily available to provide a foundation against painting him as a bigoted psycho. Look at his early, pre-controversy content and see how much more laid back and charismatic he comes across when he was just an engaged professor doing what he was passionate about.

He's not some Scholar of the Ages, he's just a man who stuck to his principles and ended up playing that role on the world stage. Is it any surprise he's deteriorating under the pressure? Imagine if William Stoner's feud with Lomax suddenly thrust him into the limelight and he had defend all Western literature in the internet era. That's Jordan Peterson. He's not an innovator. He's repeating maxims that he didn't conceptualize. But they're good maxims and he's, if nothing else, a good man. He deserves our respect and our pity.

He's helping people and that's worth something. It's a very ancient philosopher kind of feel. I'll take the lackluster doctor with the right treatment over the charismatic quack kinda deal.

He suffers from depression, he uses antidepressants, he does not look well, he appears weak.

I distrust any thoughts uttered by any man whose mental and physical health is not robust.

Robust mental health is a spook anyway. What defines a healthy mental state? It stays within the boundaries of what is seen as “acceptable” and “normal” in society. Mental health = mediocrity.

like I said. if the idea is sound and the advice has been tested and shown to be helpful, the medium by which that idea has been delivered to me does not matter.

what's so confusing about that?
