America has always been overly sensationalist and simple-minded. People have been complaining about this since the 18th century.

And on topic of the thread, while I'm sure there are low-tier universities out there that blindly shill one political ideology, my own personal uni experience was nothing like that. It's always going to be a slightly more left leaning environment, but not to an unreasonable degree. A teacher's role is to teach critical thinking, not to be an ideologue for any political view. Even my self-indentified feminist teachers mostly showed a lack of bias, despite the stereotypes about their kind.
