I'm about halfway through book two, and I hear book three and four are completely new casts like going from book one to book two. Do they all eventually merge into one story, or is this series just a bunch of stand alone novels set in the same world? I can't think of a single series that I've read that answers ALL the questions I have, when concerning fantasy. There's a ton of world building stuff that is a giant ??????? in practically every book I've read. The authors have figured it out somewhere in their notes, but it's not really anywhere for readers to see, nor does it need to be. The need to have all your questions answered will ruin most stories, because that's not the way life works.

I just want to know if the 4-5 separate stories happening on different continents each with their own dedicate book end up joining into one mega-plot by the last few books, or if it's more just a few somewhat un-related stories. Like if I only read the books that the first book cast is a part of, will I miss anything? Why is it so fucking hard to get a simple "yes" or "no" from you guys with these basic fucking questions.

>I did sell the science fiction stories I wrote in that class
>Not bad for a story I banged out overnight to meet a class deadline
>Usual pattern...piles of rejection slips...years to make a sale...writers I've met, a quarter or a third, didn't do that — like me, they sold their first story and just kept selling. I also sold my first novel to the first publisher who saw it, my first stage play, my first screen play, and when I returned to poetry...a long narrative poem
>writing would be a sideline...twin Ph.D in computer science and physiology
>never been able to write the usual way, blasting out a rough draft and then refining it
>publisher knows the writer will run out of money before they run out of books
>seven of us...collaborate on a novel...while playing poker...write two pages...wound up with over forty pages...called The Trouble With Smegma

Poll: https://www.strawpoll.me/18732249

We had loads of nominees. Three books were disqualified, Tigana because it's too well known (and already recommended in the selected fantasy chart) and too long (~675 pages).
The Riddle Master of Hed because it ends on a cliffhanger, hardly suitable to read as a standalone. Cradle/Unsouled because reviews, the promoting material and the fact that it was recurrently nominated under the name of the series give the impression that it's not a standalone work. Do you disagree? Feel free to tell me why I'm wrong and try again next month.

are their any books that take place in a utopia? that are not totally based on drama, tension, and conflict. something more feel-good, slice-of-life and maybe about exploration, technology, interpersonal relationships, and just day to day type stuff in a sci-fi setting.

and I really don't want something like hurr it seems to be a utopia but really everyone is being tricked and controlled and actually in a dystopia they just don't know it type of cliche trope shit.

I don't like getting angry. It makes me that angry that I'm unable to prevent myself from becoming angry which only makes me angrier due to this feedback loop. I try never to become angry because once I am, there's no limit to my anger and it causes problems for me and everyone else. So, don't make me angry unless you want to fight to the death and as you can see, I'm still alive despite so many times of being angry. Are you angry about that? You should be. But maybe I've just found bad recommendations like lackey, Jemisin, le Guin and attwood. Maybe it's that those recommendations were made by politically obsessed white women on forums and have used Hugo as a reading list before their obvious fall to irrelevance. But I'm now asking you faggots. So recommend me some fucking women authors that write with intelligence, heart and subtlety Jesus christ they must exist.
