Writing an essay for class about western and Islamic jurisprudence and their underlying principles and how that causes them to differ. Any books or articles you can suggest?

is there a secret conspiracy to make me like musilms or something?

is that not true historically? the seperation of church and state is from the founding fathers and islam has always treated religion as a serious thing that should rule all parts of life

That's true although I am going back to things like Roman Law and English common law. Islam in some ways was more strict (no prostitution, fornication, gambling, drinking or abortion), although in other ways less so (torturing confessions out of suspects was not allowed, theft if under the value of a shield was not considered theft, especially if due to hunger or poverty)

It's not even strictly Christian. Pure separation of Church and State was unheard of among Catholics and Orthodox, the idea is Protestant.

The Church didn't seek to force theology on people for the most part. Abortion was legal in the west until the 19th Century protestant progressives banned it, and both Augustine and Aquinas argued prostitution should remain legal as it gave a good outlet to fornication (Islam by contrast not only criminalized abortion and prostitution, but fornication as well)

Why do Western expat women insist on going to places with terrible dating options?

I was seeing this girl who was a teacher in Shanghai and she complained about how bad the dating market was there. You could have chosen Italy or France but you're in mainland China, wtf did you expect

The Ottomans actually even legalized sodomy and part of the reason they suffered Wahhabi rebellion is failure to enforce Islamic law, but I'm talking about classical Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary western jurisprudence

You guy should really read the historian of religion Rémi Brague. He argues that the separatin between Church and State is merely the modern instanciation of a relationship that has been going on, defiantly, for millenia. The State and the Church were always rivals in all their incarnations.
