Why would you "want" to be any political ideology? You form some basic values and beliefs and then draw from ideologies that seem to fit your worldview, expanding your understanding of yourself and the world as you do so. Treating ideology like it's a brand is idiotic.

>> No.13894711

This makes me wonder... Do movements/ideologies/ideas ultimately fail because the people who continue those movements/ideologies/ideas stop giving a shit? They just go with the condensed and easy-to-digest versions of those movements/ideologies/ideas? We're all caught in a constant state of thought and thoughtlessness as everyone takes their turn in the spotlight, waiting for their turn to be the ones who truly "live".

>Anarchy, State, and Utopia
Listen anon, I gather that you're a onions Marxist based on your apparent revulsion of anything that wasn't written by an academic, but putting Anarchy, State, and Utopia--a right-libertarian work--and not including what's near-universally considered the most important work on the state (you now exactly which one I'm talking about) is going way too far, man. Try to be a little bit less of an ultra when you're compiling a general reading list.

Idk about that, but sure, it's not that difficult in the current year to identify factual errors in a work of anthropology written 150 years ago. We really might as well throw out everything Engels said about primitive societies. What's important and still resonates today is Engels analysis of the family unit of Roman society and its transformation into the nuclear family of capitalist society.

Do you think the majority of people in any given movement/ideology even had a comprehensive understanding of the theory? There's a nice anecdote from the french revolution where peasants stopped a nobleman along the road and demand from him "freedom". When he asked them what they meant by freedom, they said they didn't know but they wanted it anyway.

>> No.13897228

>>13896283
No of course not. It may resolve one of the contradictions of capital, the social nature of production in contrast to the private nature of property ownership, but co-ops driven by the profit motive aren't immune to all the other tendencies of capital, particularly the tendency of the accumulation of capital in fewer and fewer hands, resulting in a gradient between Big Co-Op and small co-op which would be more or less isomorphic to the divide between the bourgeoisie and the petite bourgeoisie. Best case scenario here is a new, less exploitative class division.
And going beyond all that, production organized around profit will always fail to meet human needs; this is practically a tautology. And I'm not sure if a market socialist society has much of an advantage over a capitalist society when it comes to preventing total ecological collapse.

But a bourgeoisie is the investor class and so is the petit-bourgeoisie.
As long as coops are not allowed to invest in anything other than their coops the only class that will remain is the working class.
That's the whole point.
As far as the difference between the big coop and the small coops.
The state can tax them accordingly via progressive income tax and progressive coop tax.
>And I'm not sure if a market socialist society has much of an advantage over a capitalist society when it comes to preventing total ecological collapse.
the state can enact ecological laws. With no shareholders to answer to there's less pressure.
