I believe BRANDON SANDERSON has a foot fetish. My reason for believing this is because I have a foot fetish so I pick up on things most humans do not. Take for instance the ever shitty House of Cards. Now, I do not like this show (House of Cards) but I did sit through 4 seasons of that crap hoping it would get better, and in that time I noticed numerous examples of blatant foot fan service. It is a good fetish to pander to because it occupies a gray area due to the lack of nudity, which is why its perfect for a guy like BRANDON SANDERSON. Reading Mistborn, I can't help but notice how many times we are reminded of Vin's cute bare footedness. She's barefoot on the roof, toes clutching the edge. She's barefoot on cobblestone, only to walk on marble. Vin walked to his bed BAREFOOT, making no sound. Of course the obvious explanation (for the mundane majority of men) is that Vin is a Mistborn -- a thief -- and strives to remain quiet. She has to make lots of sacrifices due to the magneto magic of BRANDON SANDERSON'S world, such as never wearing toe rings or anklets (unless they are wooden or something) but I do not believe this is the sole reason for the foot prose on display in these books. The author (BRANDON SANDERSON) has fueled my spirit with his depiction of Vin. I have a hard time getting through the pages when I keep seeing examples of her beautiful foot-based dexterity, yet its these very passages that push me further on. I see visions of Vin toying with Elend, giving her man a royal footjob that any king would crave with her expertly trained toes. I think about Vin embarrassed, painting her toe nails to match her dress while Zane watches from the window. I think about her wearing glass slippers to show off her new feminine toes at the balls! Oh what a sight to behold! I am not even on the third book so I can't begin to imagine how much footy goodness is still to come. Anyway, these are my reasons for suspecting BRANDON SANDERSON has a foot fetish.

Yes, I have no doubt you, or someone else, has been posting about it since the very beginning.

Post counts include everything, not just about the novel.

First posts about...:
Sep 1 16: Will Wight, 95 posts
Oct 6 16: Unsouled, 35 posts
Apr 6 19: Uncrowned, 52 posts

So I guess the Uncrowned was a lot less than I thought, because that's 173 days since then which is an average of 0.3 posts per day about it and a lot of them were very recent.

Can't tell about Cradle because it's so common, but I doubt it's that much higher than the above.

Some other ones and since Warosu doesn't show posts counts and it's a hassle, I used archive.moe but that starts in like 2015 or something, so these are doubtlessly higher.

This Gideon the Ninth shit is crazy. It's literally the best use of character development in an SF I've encountered in a long time. No, I don't want to bother with Kindle Unlimited.
Then I looked at the last chapter.
Doesn't seem that different.

As a something I'd want to read, it's not much.
As a web novel/self-published, it seems fine.
Of course, when it comes to making money, those qualities are irrelevant based on the ones actually bringing in profit.

Based on the Political Compass charts that are posted all over the place, that isn't true.

politics is a culture now basically. its 5th grade class room politics culture. the nerds vs the jocks. the pretty girls vs the ugly girls.
politics has very little to do with actual politics and more to do with everyone fighting against everyone not on their side. sound arguments and logic get discarded in favor of personal opinions and goals motivated by either personal belief, manipulation or monetary incentive.
my father always used to tell me that people who should decide the fate of a country should meet 3 criteria.
>learned and worked in a trade or craft. no executives, career politicians or foreign bankers
>has to have a family with children otherwise they cant comprehend how deicisions impact families
>no ties to any boards or charities since they all are either money laundering scams or hush money

what im trying to say here is that all save a few people in politics are incompetent and should not hold any power rtegardless of which political leaning they have.
that retarded idiocy is transferred to the younger generation because they dont know any better. their whole life theyve seen politicians act like selfish jerks out for only personal gain with an agenda to demonize their opponents or really anyone not in 100% agreement with themselves, and as such they do the same. they create radical camps of opinions and wont hear the other sides arguments at all. this leads to a sort of pseudo-nationalist(nations in this case are political views) fascism in politics that extends to the average joe because he only apes hes being told.

>I honestly think there truly is no place where leftist presence is 95/5 the way that 4 chan is the opposite
4chan isn't even close to 95 percent right wing. It's just mostly "not leftist", which isn't the same thing as being right wing by a long shot. It varies a ton by board, and on boards where political discussion is allowed, the loudest, most aggressive voices predominate since that's the only way anything stays on top of a board on this site, it's survival of the fittest, where fittest means "most willing to spam threads and images". The only board I would describe as being explicitly and aggressively right wing is /pol/.

/lit/ is actually fairly left of center compared to the rest of 4chan. You have plenty of disaffected STEMfags with reactionary viewpoints but overall the board leans left, I feel, with actual left wingers like socialists and marxists present, not just trolls. Probably due to there being a lot of humanities majors on the board.

/his/ is also pretty balanced, but is far less civil because there's basically no standards for discussion unlike /lit/ (which requires some kind of text to discuss, or at least it's supposed to). On /his/ you can just post propaganda and spam infographics, basically it's /pol/ lite, but a concerted effort by leftist groups from 8ch formed a resistant there to the /pol/ crowd, so as a result the board is in a constant state of warfare between aggressive tankies and white nationalists over who can spam more propaganda. And then you have the pop history and armchair military historians making cringy threads in between them. What a rotten board.

I got sidetracked there, but the point is you probably only think this site is 95 right wing because you're used to sites where those voices are routinely censored or pushed far, far into the margins. Which as it turns out is most of the internet. Those people all flock here cause it's one of the only places they're not silenced, whereas leftists have many places.

Democratic politics just attracts the most awful kinds of people. Just imagine being a person who willingly subject himself to the opinions of his political party, an organizations more morally bankrupt and centered on "least common denominator" public appearance then the biggest Hollywood movies.
A person who thrives on playground tier drama and who's job it is to participate in shouting matches over issues neither he nor anyone else in the face of this Earth cares about.

>they create radical camps of opinions and wont hear the other sides arguments at all. this leads to a sort of pseudo-nationalist(nations in this case are political views) fascism in politics that extends to the average joe because he only apes hes being told.
The issue is that nothing ever happens. I am convinced that democratic politics works solely for the reason that it is the most conservative (in the literal sense) form of government to ever exist.
Even if you had a 90% majority of a Democratic government in favor of another Holocaust, I am utterly convinced it would take them half a decade to kill the first Jew and that only after multiple internal splits of parties thousands of hours of debate over door closing mechanisms and hundred of thousands of pages of reports by "experts" which all lead to ultimately nothing.
And this frustration at the incapability of democratic governments to ever do anything is what is fuelling the "extremists".

If you adapted well (whether by will or by accident) to the sort of image-laundering that being popular in high school requires, odds are you'll be quite successful at politicking. If you were some lonely weirdo, on another hand, you'll probably lean libertarian or ancap, and if you were a weirdo but had a social group of other weirdos you turn into a commie.

George RR Martin's entire family had to be moved. They had problems walking and eating and sleeping and everything else.

George RR Martin didn't have an estate. He was living from paycheck to paycheck. Nobody helped him. He had no friends because he didn't like people.

George RR Martin's wife, for all of her accomplishments, was a pretty poor and unappreciative wife.

George RR Martin's daughters (the ones that didn't die in any of his books) all had pretty crappy health, and George RR Martin couldn't even keep up with them.

I've never said otherwise. Ya'll are the ones that shit on anyone and everyone who even slightly hints at liking those books, specifically because it's not one of your little ebooks or webnovels, and like most of the children on 4chan it's "too mainstream to be cool". Almost every book or series I've checked out from the recommends here I've dropped in a matter of chapters because they all try so hard to break cliches and be as anti-modern as they can be.
You say 70% of the anons here are honest. I'm among them. I uniroincally love schlocky sci-fi and fantasy, which is why I like the books that I listed. Also, little insight for ya. The guy that was asking for recommendations reads the absolute bottom shelf schlock fantasy series with Forgotten Realms and Dragon Lance. So more schlocky modern takes on that kind of stuff, the stuff Weeks and Sanderson and Lunch and the rest put out, is right up his alley.
It's ALMOST like I gave him a list based on what he said he liked, as opposed to giving him a list of stuff that YOU like that has nothing to do with the kinds of books he's interested in, because you want to pedal your hipster webnovels and other garbage.

It's now not sorted by tiers based on how many ratings and author has received so that anyone who looks at it will see the most relevant information right away and be able to rate the top authors quickly.
Currently the tiers are 2 ratings+ = tier 1; 1= tier 2; 0= tier 3. An author will move up in tier after receiving the required number of ratings. I don't know if there's a way to automate this, so I'll put in some measures to show me that it needs to be re-organized time to time which doesn't really take any time effort to do so.

Other various problems fixed and various remain.
Currently there are 7 raters.

Hard to respond without knowing what you read. You disliking Wolfe and you disliking Randi Darren warrant different responses.
>based on what he said he liked
He asked about the last 10 years and I answered the question
/sffg/ is better than your nativeland, because of the following reasons:
1) We actually sometimes discuss good books here, ones with literary value. There are mentions of Crowley and Lafferty dropped once in a while, and that's already way better than most online communities.
2) Instead of reading schlock which is popular we read schlock which we like. Almost everyone here has tried reading Sandersons here and disliked them for some reason. Personally I despise how formulaic they are and how their characters are whiny retards. So we seek out other authors instead of circle jerking the same roster of 10 authors. In other words, there's nothing wrong with being mainstream per se, but the lack of karma system, and the inherent contrariness of 4channers ensures that the discussion is at least somewhat varied, instead of reponding "Rothfuss!" to every question.
Whether you like chinkshit litrpg harem or Lawrence is entirely subjective. None of them have any literary value to speak of, so just read whatever you like more. I liked Sanderson once. I have even read all of his older books. But one day I grew up, couldn't take the repetition of the same nonsense again and again, the cringy morals, and Sanderson believing himself to be something he is not. So I ascended to read unapologetic self-inserts.

My friend, this isn't 2003-05 era 4chan anymore. 4chan isn't your secret little club house. It's been mainstream for literally over a decade. People like you, who think they HAVE to be contrarian and hat everything even remotely popular are the bottom of the barrel on this site. fuck that. i know plenty of novels that started out as short stories but got sequels because of how popular they got. also how elaborate a magic system is depends on writing style, narrative and most importantly audience. elaborate autistic magic systems with 3000 circumstantial rules or vague magical guidelines work fine either way if they fit the work that they are in.

I've watched a good amount of interviews and have seen a few years of the class he teaches, and you're basically wrong.
He says that FOR HIM focusing on the magic system is what works, because of the way he's setting up his Cosmere thing. It gives him a starting point for all his stories - how the magic eventually ties back to his meta-Cosmere stuff.
As for writing short stories, AFAIK he's only really said this specifically as advice for the business side of his class, talking to people that want to publish/sell their specifically Fantasy works. He's also using first hand knowledge of that.
He treats his writing like it's his job, which it is, and I can see where that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. But he constantly hammers home in practically every one of his lectures that the story and the characters will always come first in terms of reader enjoyment. Paraphrasing, but he's basically said
>If you have a neat magic system but a terrible story and characters to go with it, no one is going to read it, so what good is the magic system in the first place.
Sounds to me like there's a lot of half-truths and people lacking knowledge on the subject, judging by fourth/fifth hand retellings.
Also even IF he said those things, the fact that you wish cancer upon him and his children is fucking insane. No one is stopping you from self publishing your shitty litRPG/harem story. No ones buying it because it's shit, not because Sanderson is a hack.

never said they were as good as the rest, just that it's all schlock and the absolute lowest tier of fiction, and literature as a whole. there's maybe 3 stories in all of fantasy that transcend the genre and actually hold up against real literature. and thats a big maybe.
and while youre busy over here saying im a low/midwit, im just laughing my ass off because you havent realized that you're a low/midwit as well. you're kidding yourself by thinking your better than someone that reads sanderson or lynch or weeks just because you read 'only the good stuff'. if you wanted to read literature with actual depth, meaning, and well written prose you'd step out of fantasy and sci fi.

I flush most books I try to read, and don't even try that many, but I can name three that stack up against much of what passes for literature these days easy
>BotNS
>Hyperion
>Lord of Light
That's just novels; plenty of short stories I've read are much better. Speaking of those, I remember a part in BotNS where Severain muses on the fact that people of a low class often confuse the rich with aliens because they can only conceive of a single class above their own.

Oh, no. Abercrombie, by far, is the worst fantasy writer I've ever read. Meandering drivel where nothing ever happens. Unfortunately I'm a completest, so I forced myself to finish the First Law trilogy. I was, happily, able to bail out after the first standalone though.

Litrpg is he absolute trash of all published works. Lawrence is "meh", the Red Sister trilogy is OK though. Actually, his best work is his Goodreads reviews, those are kino. He should stick to that and give up writing books.

Columns hidden to mitigate confusion.

Descriptions about stuff added.
Colors and cell size standardized.
Author and number columns set as frozen to view better when scrolling.
Looks a lot better now.

How long should I wait for someone else to make the next thread?
Before this one is archived and provide a link to the next thread
After this one is archived

Should I change the charts link to go to directly to the science fiction and fantasy folder and only have that one be visible or should I leave it as is?

Is the guy who was doing the google drive uploads gone? Should I just upload them into the mega and it'll be one link?

Should I include the previous threads in the OP as shown here:

I gave it a shot but I havent been able to get into much lately. I thought I was swinging towards cooking but in the end I swung right back into DnD again.

I hate to say it, but I feel like this weekly dnd game and the therapy are probably the reason I lost interest. Even when I wanted to write I didn't have enough consecutive nights free to build momentum so I just stopped tryng

Whenever I DM'ed, which was always in person, I mostly improvised everything as I went along. Too much effort to create that much content ahead of time. That's been a long time ago though. We also played with a rather loose style as well. It's basically cooperative storytelling.
