Do it the modernist/symbolist style. Don't actually "argue" your points, just make them implicit on a symbolic level, or don't state them at all, let your reader discover them through a negative dialectic.

They forced this down our throats in highschool. By the time I reached uni, it struck me that no one had really taught me how to write an actual essay. It's a crutch for poor pedagogy.
