My cousin asked me for philosophy recs what should I give him? He has been taking a philosophy class and has been going on about he has been getting brainfucked and how the Greeks were geniuses since they figured out there was one God and how mathematics is the language of God and has been saying a bunch of other cringe shit. He is a libertardian crapitalist christcuck (yes I live in America) and I would like to redpill him so what should I rec him? I want to redpill him subtly so I wont rec him any Marxist stuff yet or he will sperg out at me.

Plato
Why are you on lit if you don't read?

>> No.13877281

Hannah Arendt's The Human Condition is both broad and general enough to be accessible even without much background in philosophy, and sufficiently in depth about the entire tradition that it'll give you a workable overview from the Greeks through the Romans and Christians up to modernity and the 1950s, out of which you can branch out and choose how to continue your reading.

He seems nice if he outgrows his capitalist shit, or at least grows some real self-awareness over it (which might be hard for an american)
Maybe show him some of Das Kapital? Chomsky or Mark Fischer maybe? Whitehead?

that book is an absurd farce of a philosopher desperately trying to convince themselves that they are not "just" a philosopher by talking about "vita activa"

Discipline and Punish was one of the more engaging works I found early. It asks a lot of very interesting questions, and is generally not terribly difficult to get through for someone new to this sort of thing

You are the one who needs to learn, your cousin is fine. For you I would suggest some ayn rand. You both have a lot in common. You don’t have your own ideas, you hide behind socialism to conceal your fascism, and you take the works of an infinitely more intelligent person and rework the original meaning to fit your ideals.

3/10 bait, got me to actually reply

Marx is a faggot. Only a faggot would try to redpill someone with Marx, Hegel, Lenin, and so forth. Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, and Schopenhauer are the answers you're looking for.
