Actual advice? Know history and mythology like a mother fucker before you even think about starting or else you are going to just be a dime a dozen shit author. Don't drag out your plot too long and don't be afraid to be a little mary sue with your characters, people want awesome people doing awesome shit. Grimdark the fuck out of it. Then make some sort of TWEEST so it isn't like traditional fantasy.
