I think I agree with how you feel on Schopenhauer. A lot of what he thought about the will was undeniable, in terms of how it plays out in the REAL world, but I think his metaphysics of the will are a serious stretch. I also feel he had some great things to say about aesthetics and how life can become more poetic with a deeper appreciation of art, but I entirely disagree with the destruction of the ego and the will to live; I don't think that's key in living a better life nor do I think it is healthy.
