Do I need to read Faust 1 first to understand Faust 2?
I just read the paper "Goethe's Faust and Heidegger's Critique of Technology" by Thomas Rendall after reading Spengler, Ellul and Kaczynski and it made me curious about Faust 2, kinda seems like its the original critique of technique.

Also the tone & atmosphere of the two parts are strikingly different, a delicious contrast not to be missed even if you didn't need the foregrounding of pt1 to make sense of pt2.
