Be well educated in multiple academic fields and resort to google when you don't understand something.

Leopardi is not for brainlets. His poetry is far more accesible than zibaldone.

It's generally how you're supposed to do it. There's not an index in the back for nothing. The whole idea of the Zibaldone takes Kant to another level, it's like an encyclopedia of the mind rather than an encyclopedia of the world. When someone asks "what does Leopardi feel?" you can give them a copy of his Canti and poems, but if someone asks "who is Leopardi?" you can hand them this as it is a definitive statement of a life. There are actually few thinkers you can say this about, they're all really bogged down in some other purpose, whether trying to make a declaration or manifesto, whereas Leopardi writes for himself

The walking tombstone Giacomo Leopardi, the midget virgin. The Zibaldone are filled with a lot of gems. Pessoa wrote the follwing in The Education of the Stoic (about Leopardi); I am shy to women and therefore does not God exist.

My copy only has 2500 pages, but I know the original is over 4000. I'll see if I can find what page 3837 is in my edition.

Oh, that was stupid of me. I like that excerpt, it builds for a while and then ends with a thud at "moral death." Thanks anon

I wonder how much comparable material would be written if everyone on /lit/ undertook a similar enterprise. Most of it would be garbage of course, but even with, say, only the best one thousandth of the result, one would already have a lot of material of decent quality.

It keeps going, ends at start of page 3842.
