Which book is a better introduction to Ayn Rand's philosophy, The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged?

Sorry I fucked up. It's getting late. That's not really my style, though. But I am kind of looking forward to what will become of this thread. Seems like lots of trollin round these parts tonight.

You don't have to reply, you could just ignore it completely.

The one person I know who sucks Ms. Rand's dick is a socially retarded far right winger. So there's that.

In a legitimate answer to your query, the Fountainhead, it's a far simpler example of Objectivism working on an individual level.

good they shouldn't be enforced. the lack of law is what I love about 4chan. but these rules are new right?

Is Ayn Rynd really seen as some kind of hipster author in the US? Here she's seen as a self-righteous idiot for right-wing nobodies to latch onto

She's hated, don't worry. Though... I personally found the characters in The Fountainhead to be brilliantly conceived and executed. I've not read Atlas Shrugged yet, but I will. And to be honest it seems every argument I've heard against her picks and chooses details of her 'philosophy' to misinterpret and expound upon in a wildly inaccurate way in order to make her seem ridiculous. I've taken shit from people who saw I was reading Anthem/The Fountainhead, and what they said was bad about it wasn't even true - some of them had never even read any of her books before. I think it's just popular to hate her, and so many of the people who profess to understand and undermine her ideas really don't have any idea what they're talking about. Of course, I've not read all of her work yet, so my opinions on the matter are in their infancy.

>>1378634
I've only been here about a year and a half, but they've been there the whole time.

i always saw the global rules, i don't remember ever seeing a set of rules for each board though. also /lit/ hasn't even existed for a year

>> No.1378651

>>1378642
I think peoples complaints stem from the fact that her 'philosophy' is a very basic sophomoric one, and that she presents it as though it were some ground-breaking revelation of Earth-saving importance.

>>1378650
Yeah, I meant on 4chan. I also post on /b/, /vp/ and /x/. I considered specifying that, but I thought it would be obvious since, as you said, this board isn't even that old.

The Fountainhead burns hotter, but Atlas Shrugged burns longer.

Six of one, half a dozen of another.
