The Maude translation, which was accomplished in collaboration with Tolstoy himself, is objectively the best translation. I personally enjoy Garnett's translations most, even though they are objectively inferior to Maude and P&V. Hysterical lovesickness is a theme that is deeply interwoven in Anna Karenina (hysteria is especially prevalent in the inner monologues of both Levin and Kitty). In my opinion, Garnett manages to capture that hysterical ambiance much better than other translators.

Can't go wrong with either Maude or Garnett, although I would also recommend the Marian Schwartz translation which I have.
