At 6 yo I used to act in a Quixotesque way, i.e. I got along with another young lad and we made up a story about a murder in our school of which we spent our days searching for evidence (obviously the fictional victim didn't have an identity and was just a McGuffin for our investigations, so anything from a weird looking water puddle to a perceived suspicious behavior from a teacher or classmate could serve as evidence; we did discuss the odds of every possible instance of evidence found being actual evidence tho) and even getting some other people unwillingly involved (we even openly accused some other kid who was clueless about our game). I know kids play cops and robbers and doctors and shit but this shit went on for at least a year and had at least some narrative coherence all through, and we weren't interpreting detectives or anything, the point of the story was just our real selves finding out about a crime which was either ignored or undercovered by the school environment.
What does this approach to fiction tell about a kid's psychology, other than (I guess) dislike for the perceived reality?
