Two Regimes of Madness
What is Philosophy?

>> No.13707917

What is Philosophy? is Deleuze's easiest work. Can be used as a launching point for Capitalism and Schizophrenia. C&S is meant to be playful though it often feels frustrating and you should either enjoy it or ignore it instead of suffering.

If you've read other historical philosophers like Nietzsche his studies are all quite enjoyable.

I personally think Logic of Sense is highly underrated.

Difference and Repetition should be approached last.

Hardt's book on Deleuze is a decent intro if you want secondary stuff.

Guattari on his own is pretty great too. Check out Chaosmosis and Chaosophy and the Anti-Oedipus Papers.

spinoza practical phil is deleuze's easiest work imo and should be the starting point. imo you should read his early monographs on other philosophers first before diving into his more original works; spinoza practical phil, spinoza + expressionism, book on hume, the nietzsche text

logic is sense is underrated like the above said

what is philosophy acts as a good launching point for all of his original stuff

difference and repetition if you like metaphysics

c+s if you want something more political

this
plus Negotations and Desert Islands
except WiP they're all short and essential articles/interviews with Deleuze (especially Desert Islands, there's plenty of quite important texts in there)
WiP is nice, but not as accesible as the three books aforementioned - you can read it after them
i've started with negotiations and it's very good introduction desu

don't listen to this fag, difference and repetition and both parts of capitalism and schizophrenia are not to be read for starters. don't do that. you don't begin learning math with calculus

Don't waste you're time. He uses semiotics, psychoanalysis, marxism, genealogy, post heideggerian ontology and non-representational immanent productive metaphysics. It's all erudite psuedo intellectualism dressed up as profundity.

With the same intellectual effort you could learn calculus, linear algebra, differential equations instead.

>Logic of Sense
What is the biggest topic of this book? What message does Deleuze want to convey? I want to see the book if it is about his metaphysics, but I thought it is about aesthetic because of lots of mention of francis bacon.

Schizophrenia as in, always hallucinating new desires, adding and adding to oneself with no end in an attempt to escape reality

It's not about "much worse" or not. It's a diagnosis of the postmodern condition.

The Bacon book is Logic of Sensation. Logic of Sense is about language and psychoanalysis and Lewis Carroll.

that's not schizophrenia, although it has some similarities with schizoid personality disorder i think this deserves its own term maybe something like deprivation psychosis or Folie à deux escapism,

The schizophrenic can't come to terms with reality, so it splits off into delusional space. Except, it knows that it can follow the delusion to its end... So it has to keep deluding itself ad infinitum

>is about language and psychoanalysis and Lewis Carrol
What the fuck? Its about the false construction of the modern concept of the individual subject from sense experience and an attempt to save Kant, Hegel and Freud from their logical contradictions of their assumptions about reality. He exposes the enlightenment as a repackaged Plato's cave allegory with a pathological Christ complex, and then offers an alternative "Logic of Sense" hence the title.

Sometimes /lit/.... Sometimes.
