I'm depressed anons. Post some poetry/music that will help me wallow in my despair. I want something that will make me cry. Accompanying artwork is always nice.

It's probably just an observation, but no doubt can be read metaphorically. Maybe it can be interpreted that severe conditions can shake loose debris that we can make useful (warm our selves/spirit, for example)

Emily Brontë

That wind I used to hear it swelling
With joy divinely deep -
You might have seen my hot tears welling
But rapture made me weep.

I used to love on winter nights
To lie and dream alone
Of all the hopes and real delights
My early years had known.

And oh, above the rest of those
That coming time should bear,
Like heaven's own glorious stars they rose
Still beaming bright and fair.

Whenever it's early twilight
I watch 'til a star breaks through
Funny, it's not a star I see
It's always you
Whenever I roam through roses
And lately I often do
Funny, it's not a rose I touch
It's always you
If a breeze caresses me
It's really you strolling by
If I hear a melody
It's merely the way you sigh
Wherever you are, you're near me
You dare me to be untrue
Funny, each time I fall in love
It's always you
If a breeze caresses me
It's really you strolling by
If I hear a melody
It's merely the way you sigh
Wherever you are, you're near me
You dare me to be untrue
Funny, each time I fall in love
It's always you

How long these hours take to pass
As long as a whole procession

Yet you'll mourn the time you mourned,
For it will be gone too soon,
like all time past:
too fast, too long ago

"For you dear Anon"

There is nothing left today
But steel and fire and stone
Though all we knew depart
The old commandments stand

"In courage kept your heart
In strength lift up your head"

And although I don't speak much, anymore
your voice has sparked flint
From my mortal tongue
Flamed with arid, lips of woe

"Hating yourself is powerful
like drinking from a cool well
Beware, for you don't know yet
That water is poisoned, 'tis a sure bet
A hundred times you mimic the motion
and still you are bound to forget"

But despite his plight
His public, perhaps,
Wont phantom the though
that beyond our great wall
Something lies out of sight
Divine in nature, no matter how small,

Now I sit in the center of a burning house
And watch it char away
I'm protected, from the flames that catch
But they burn me all the same.

- with love, by anon

carlo michelstaedter actually has a great part on forcing a specific “emption” (specifically in sorrow) and it inherently missing the goal in the early rhetoric part of his book, i believe.
Check it out before your next self wallowing.

im sorry. I forgot I have it in german.
The position of this specific page is the second part: I The Rhetoric a page or so before “a historical example”; though, if you won’t read it all, read at minimum the entire I Rhetoric part, it is the best in the book.

Nos péchés sont têtus, nos repentirs sont lâches;
Aux objets répugnants nous trouvons des appas;
Et dans un bâillement avalerait le monde;

This one is about the bitter sweetness of reconciliation with an ex. Seeing how lifes turns and twists while intense when experienced, melancholicaly contains within itself it´s own genesis. As if time still moves at two directions simultaneously.
