What is Hemmingway saying about capitalism in The Snows of Kilimanjaro?

>> No.1360216

He said capitalism is a system in which everybody must do his own homework

But isn't that unfair to students with lower intelligence or with backgrounds that hurt their academic potential? Clearly, progressive grade taxation and redistribution must be implemented as soon as possible!

This reminds me of a story at theonion titled "Study shows tests are biased against students who don't give a shit."

do your own homework, friend

>> No.1360257

perhaps i should've went a little more specific to detail the trouble im having with this piece. i understand that the characters of harry and helen both represent the working and wealthy classes in society, but my trouble comes at trying to figure out why hemmingway decides to put one character on his death bed. is it because he wanted to shows that even though living a life of luxury is nice and dandy, it leaves an individual devoid of true happiness?

doesn't change the fact that you need to do your own homework
