it's such a tired take. I took a class where the entire point was to convince us we never make decisions, everything is just environmental influence and ad-hoc justification.

in my next class we then read brilliant mathematical texts that unlock the inner workings of the universe...

it's characteristic of modern academia to take well known facts (people justify things, people make mistakes, most things people do are habit not deliberate) and pretend they are new insights and over intellectualize them
