What the fuck is going on, I've read 23 books so far this year but for the last two months I've only read one book. What the hell is going on? I thought I would be reading even more during summer.

What have you read this year and what was that singular summer slog?

Been going through many books that I've been recommended here on /lit/, like The Border Trilogy, lots of sci-fi, Stoner, some short-story collections by Cortazar etc.

The last book I read was 'This way for the gas, ladies and gentlemen', which was a quick and easy read. That was two-three weeks ago, and all of June I tried reading 'The Savage Detectives' but only got to page 130 before I dropped it.

I still have a lot of books I want to read, I just seem to be in a slump or whatever it's called right now. I want my reading motivation back now that it's perfect weather for reading outside.

I’d recommend Borges. I was experiencing a similar thing this summer, then I read the theologians and now I’m back in. He writes about the bits of scholarly study that are truly magical. Another good way I’ve found is to read something easy and raunchy that you can whip through in a day or two. Bukowski and hunter s. Thompson are both fantastic at this, plus fear and loathing in Los Vegas is on the lit syllabus so you can score pseud points while you guilt binge.

That's a good tip, seeing as how I just got the collected fictions! Any favorite stories of his you'd recommend?

Theologians was pretty kino. Although I'll admit I didn't get it until I read one of the later stories in that collections

Perhaps you have an author or genre that sort of always works for you? Reading something like that usually puts me back in the mood.
