I just read the last 70 pages of Remains of the day.

It was basically NPC's confessions: the book, but turned out to be a very light read. Do people really like this more than Never let me go?

Finished reading Genesis today. So about 20 pages, although it felt more like 60 due to smaller print/kjv style prose. Really enjoyed the last part with Joseph n shit. Excited to start Exodus tomorrow

>> No.13518203

>>13518111
That makes no sense. If it was smaller print, then it would have fit into a smaller amount of pages, not bigger

>> No.13518225

>>13518203
The pages are the same size but the text is smaller. Therefore you read more words in the same amount of pages.

Why measure achievement on pages read? Seems kind of arbitrary. Surely it's more important to reflect on what you've learned or what you've taken from the work you're reading? Number of pages says nothing about the knowledge or insight you've gained or how you have otherwise been enriched by the literature.

Yeah but what about Jack writing Alec fearing something horrible was about to happen, warning him not to leave the building? It seemed to imply that the effect wasn’t just wearing off but that something more sinister was up. And it would feel like Alec got off the King’s hook too easily otherwise.

>> No.13519059

>>13518886
Of course what's on the pages is more important than their number, everyone here would agree with that.
But nowadays, when we have invented so many novel ways of distracting ourselves from anything important, many of us struggle reading at all. Because of that, we find it both funny and useful to post how much we've managed to read alongside pictures of silly-looking frogs,as well as to see how much others have read. It's motivating to know we're not the only ones struggling.

>> No.13519111

I finished a book this morning and now I don't have anything to read until I bring my ass down to the library. Also, I wish all modern frog posters would just off themselves already.
