So how about some real literature. Have you read pic related? The language he uses is really purple, but done in a beautiful and tender way. Can anyone recommend "Night Sky with Exit wounds"?

That's a painfully saccharine title. I hope this writer dies of diabetes.

As is the book itself. What's the problem with that?

Life is not sweet. It's is a piece of shit that we have to eat slowly.

It's immoral and misleading to pose yourself as a serious artist and then lie. Sorry, don't have time for you.

life is all but the sweetness between all the bitterness you find. You're stance on what life is, seems to be based of the way this board treats the outside world. Namely as threatening environment full off, left-right dichotomy, teenage angst and edgelord "everything is miserable"-attitude

No it's bad

On a balance, life is bitter. You're deluded if you think otherwise. I don't care what you think or your board thinks or your mom thinks. Fuck off. Don't defend a bullshit book title.

This is a very platitudinous statement that can only be uttered by a sheltered mind. You're failing to take into account the broader scope of the incalculable horror and suffering endured by conscious existence. All the myriad creatures (not just humans of course) that have been abused, raped, mauled, tortured, drowned, starved, etc. over the course of millions of years. It's not possible to do it justice with a forum post, but on a balance your comfortable first world "sweetness" amounts to nothing but a grain of sugar against a bottomless pit of pain and death.

Is this the famed 'nihilist cope' in action?

Oh no it's much worse, it's some real teen angst and pseudopression, clearly by a guy who for but a single moment, came to a sort of realization and then swore to never think about anything else in any other way again. Be a sad boy for a day or two and then hopefully, you'll grow up.

I understand that covering your eyes is a near universal coping mechanism, but there's nothing "mature" about it.

How is this book translated so excellently? Well, I can't really say it is since I can't read Icelandic but it feels like it was written by a native and learned English writer.
Furthermore, any books similar in content to this?

Haven't read it. But it sounds interesting enough, I'll put it on my list.

So what do you do in the face of the overwhelming miserableness? Do you succumb to it or are you able to outgrow it and become more of a man than than you where before?

Honestly, I don't know. I just keep going like any other creature. Maybe one day I won't. Regardless, trying to ignore it strikes me as egotistical.

You're doing the right thing. Just keep on going. Learn and be kind and gentle with yourself.
Life is complicated, we won't be able to grasp it in a thread on 4chan.
