Not frightened at all, fellow tobacco smoker. I know smoking does not cause cancer. Smoking has antidepressant, nootropic and anti-aging effects and that only midwits get addicted. I will enjoy my lower risk of parkinson's disease for the rest of my life, and better writing ability while brainlets and midwits REEEEEE as to the harm. It is harmless and makes me a better writer.

I mean I smoke but there's no denying the well documented and very obvious health implications. You honestly need to have an IQ below 80 to believe that smoking is anything but detrimental to your well being.

When I was 24, I very consciously decided that I needed to quit either smoking or drinking. I chose to quit smoking, and was very successful, though it took several tries. Now, I'm a non-smoking alcoholic with diabetes. And I hold my pen caps like a cigarette whenever I'm writing anything at work.

...I quit the wrong vice.

Smoking is just less socially acceptable now a days. I'm definitely a lot younger than you, so let me tell you that after exiting a pub with a large group of peers on graduation i got a lot of looks when i smoked a cigarette which made feel almost guilty, despite the fact half of them were absolutely plastered, and probably kill a bunch of brain cells.

Excessive drink and excessive smoking will both kill you slowly and painfully before you're sixty. Maybe even before fifty. I say just choose your vice. I chose alcohol without realizing how miserable it is. Smoking affects your brain less, but arguably kills you faster.

I don't smoke tobacco. Tried it perhaps 5 times in my life, didn't like it.

>>13482586
I guess this is going to be unpopular with some, fair enough. I still believe that tobacco is highly addictive, highly damaging to your health, to lung capacity (important in the Military), increases risk of various types of cancer, it's expensive, and that one of the best decisions of my life have been to not start smoking cigarettes.

That said, I DO have some interest in trying out cigars. Dennis Prager and Stephen Crowder seems to really like them, you're not even supposed to breathe it in so it's not particularly bad for the lungs save for second-hand smoke, George Burns enjoyed cigars and booze in his century on the planet, I do believe it would increase the risk of mouth cancers but the throat and lungs should be quite alright. Significantly better, I'm curious as to the difference in taste compared to cigs, but since it wouldn't be something I do several times a day and only something I try out from time to time, I anticipate that I wouldn't get addicted, and indeed Dennis and Stephen if I'm not mistaken have remarked on how they've been able to go on trips and go for even a couple weeks without a cigar and they're just fine.

So yeah, I'll very likely experiment with cigars in the future, but I'll never give cigarettes another try. They're disgusting in taste, I do believe they're bad for lung capacity and health, they're highly addictive (up there with heroin I hear), very expensive (I'm already an alcoholic, thank you very much; VERY expensive), and my life is much better without them.

The idea of doing some writing with an enjoyable cigar (assuming I'll be able to find it enjoyable), sounds very comfy. I hear the smell second-hand is better than cigs too, at least according to Dennis Prager's claim on his wife's view of the matter. She thinks that cigs smell gross but likes the smell of cigar... you'd think they'd smell the same, being tobacco products.

You can't prove smoking did it. Quitting smoking is what triggers cancer in life long smokers.
