How can nihilists know whether or not life is objectively meaningles or not?

I think he would become if for whatever reason he no longer had access to any real art, since the perception of the idea they communicate is the only thing able to take us, momentarily, out of the continuous suffering and misery of life, consequently, the only worthy thing in life.

This is the cringiest one yet, I can just imagine the edgy 18 year old as he sits down at his computer at 3:45 AM and spend his night coming up with these embarrassing descriptors and adds them to his own personalized Doomer Wojak(TM) in MS Paint

You have it right there. Objective implies that there is some sort of measure or standard, but for life this is not the case. Existence does not operate in modes of true or false because such would require some kind of external force, criteria by which to judge life. If a thing cannot be good or bad, true or false, correct or incorrect, then we can hardly attribute to it an aim or grander 'meaning'.

We can comfort ourselves with notions of self-purpose - that we live to be happy, for instance - but this is to ignore the question of meaning rather than solve it (how could the symptom of something be it's meaning?).

I'm hardly entrenched in my views, so if you would like to argue I would legitimately be interested in hearing what you have to say.

>In the evening a letter from Prof. Nietzsche, which pleases us, for his mood had given us cause for concern. Regarding this, R. says he fears that Schopenhauer's philosophy might in the long run be a bad influence on young people of this sort, because they apply his pessimism, which is a form of thinking, contemplation, to life itself, and derive from it an active form of hopelessness.
