What's the big deal of this book?

It's the holy book of a currently controversial religious group. That's it

In the Quran, Allah says he will send forth a 'beast of the earth' (dabbat al-ard) to make the world believe in him through wonders. In the Bible, the devil raises up a 'beast of the earth' to work wonders on behalf of the 'beast of the sea' antichrist system. This beast of the earth later gets called the 'false prophet'. Muslims and Christians, can you tell us more about this stuff?

What's controversial about it?

>> No.13448061

It's pretty boring and repetitive.

aside from the fact that Islam is just an ugly religion, this book has, at least in translation, 0 literary worth -- and it's immensely boring

I sense the sarcasm in your post.

I know that there are a lot of false claims about this religion circulating (namely regarding terrorism, suicide bombing, etc., which all goes against the ethics of war in Islam and has nothing to do with Jihad and the morals of our prophet), I could certainly bring some clarity on some of these things.
As for the established uncontestable truths of our religion, well all of that is in the Bible times ten and it's still the most circulated book in your countries, so what gives?

Wasn't Mohammed a pedo?

>> No.13448707

>>13448312
Define pedo; nowadays, a 40 year old guy who has a 20 year old girlfriend is called a pedophile.

Pedophile strictly means having intercourse with prepubescent children.

Aisha was given in marriage to Muhammad by Abu Bakr, as the tradition says, when she was 6 years old, and he consummated the marriage when she was 9 years old (sometimes it is stated that she was 10 years old). Giving a young girl in marriage is common practice in every society in the world throughout all of history, it may shock modern sensibilities, but I honestly don't give a damn. In Roman Law, the age of marriage for the girl is 12 years old. We don't know whether Aisha was nubile when the marriage was consummated or not, it's not explicitly stated anywhere, but as you know, the Arabic society was illiterate, and even counting years wasn't theoir forte (example we don't know whether Muhammad has died at the age of 60 or 62, and he was the most important person around, so when it comes to ages, you always have a ± 2-3 year error - same thing for Umar ibn al-Khattab, Amr ibn al-As, etc., where we have ±5 years difference between accounts). And puberty doesn't hit everyone at the same age, so it's very possible that Aisha was 10-11 years old when it was consummated and that she was nubile.

I personally that Aisha was nubile when the marriage was consummated because all the elements go in that direction:
- they say that he WAITED a couple of years before consuming the marriage, if he really was a pedo and didn't care and everybody was okay with that for some reason, he would've consummated it immediately;
- Muhammad lived 25 years in a monogamous marriage with a woman 15 years older than him, not really the profile of a pedo or someone who likes fresh meat in any case;
- there is no society in which someone, let alone a public figure, would be allowed to lawfully have sex with a prepubescent child, and it would be written everywhere and everybody would be okay with that, I don't think it's documented anywhere;
- Muhammad was never criticized for this particular issue, neither by his contemporaries nor anyone that followed. And his opponents seized every opportunity to insult him and criticize him and bring scandal to him, which they wholeheartedly did when he married the divorcee of his adoptive son (which was considered at the limit of incest). If his marriage to Aisha shocked anyone, there would've been volumes written on it.

So no, he wasn't a pedo, you don't honestly believe that he would've done something like that and not be called on it.

There are genuine criticisms of Islam outside of terrorism. Islam promotes honor killings, extortion, violence against "infidels", fundamentalism, not eating pork, etc.

>> No.13448754

>>13448724
No it doesn't promote honor killings.
Doesn't promote extortion, unless you consider zakat and jizya extortion, then every single society in the world promoted extortion.
Violence against infidels is called Jihad, it's the warfare of conquest that is strictly regulated, as every society in the world has done throughout history.
Don't see what's wrong with fundamentalism.
Pork makes you fat and prone to heart disease friend. You should in fact drastically reduce your consumption of all red meat.

I don't like Islam, and I have certain arguments against it. However, your arguments are poor if we just focus on the Koran; yes, many Hadiths support what you're saying, but a lot of people tend to reject them. Islam is found in the Koran, and here are my criticisms from reading it: 1) obsession with discriminating against idol worshipers or polytheists (though this may also be evident in OT and NT), 2) violence against non-believers (this is different from infidels), 3) belief in final unalterable revelation, 4) problem of evil due to Monotheism, 5) dumb Jewish myths revolving around Abraham. 2 of these issues also apply to Christianity.
Anyways, I will respond to each of your points now:
>honor killings
Not in the Koran. However, a lot of passages in Koran are extremely cruel to polytheists. However, Koran makes it clear harming Christians, Zoroastrians, or Jews is bad because they are considered believers. Historically, they may have been treated poorly, but that goes against what the Koran says.
>extortion
Not in Koran. I actually remember some passages being explicit about giving percentage of total income to the poor.
>violence against "infidels"
Yes, this is true towards "non-believers". It's partly why I don't like Islam because Dharmic faiths are cool. I'm against harming them because many of their sects don't believe in One God. However, the Koran is clear that Christians, Zoroastrians, and Jews are considered "people of the book".
>fundamentalism
This is too vague. I agree that there is a kind of fanaticism in its hatred against non-believers. I don't see the big deal if someone does not believe in One God.
>not eating pork
Eating all meat is bad. I would expect all truly religious people to attempt to be vegetarian.

As you can tell, I am not particularly fond of Islam, but Christcucks are really no better. They improved thanks to Enlightenment era neutering Christianity. It brought other problems, sure, but it helped end the era of Matthew Hopkins, breast rippers, and other heinous shit Catholics and others did.

The Middle East could have had an enlightenment era without Mongols or the discovery of petroleum, which is foundational to economic systems. It just led to the growth of extremism which the CIA and other parties benefit from its sectarian warfare.

>In the Quran, Allah says he will send forth a 'beast of the earth' (dabbat al-ard) to make the world believe in him through wonders
Reference, please. I can't remember ever having read that in the Quran. The only possible thing I can remember is from the ahadeeth relating to the end times, when some form of beast will be sent to separate the people into believers and disbelievers by marking them - but it's been a long time since I read about the apocalypse

the best thing about the quran is it remained the same since its conception. muslims believe it to be the clearest view of the cosmic religion that has been here since the beginning of time abd has been bastardized by other religions i.e. christianity, judaism, hinduism. in a nutshell, if you're scared of following a wrong path, you can never go wrong with following the quran. ignore the mazhabs.

It's in surah 27 (The Ants). 27:82 is where dabbat al-ard appears. It's rendered differently in different English translations. The hadith you mention is related to this same beast of the earth though, from what I remember.
