so I had never read this book, just seen parts of the movie, but it was assigned for an English course.

Pretty well written, but its philosophy is total garbage.

People dress up as this guy for Halloween? What is there to idolize? A self-centered, reckless drug addict with a "believing that there is some sort of guiding force/reason/purpose in life is wrong" mindset?

Wiki'd the guy... he killed himself, what a surprise.

Baffles me that people I know seem to look up to this loser.
