Animorphs is getting a re-release. There's so much I want to say about that, but I think for now I'll just stick with how this makes me incredibly happy even though I already own all of them.

What???? That's AWESOME.

For the first time in my life, I felt the urge to squee. I didn't, but that's not the point.

Oh god, you just made me nostalgia so hard. Did anyone ever read the Everworld series by the same author? They were written for a slightly older audience.

I did. As a history major, I was pretty entertained by her and her husband's take on all of those cultures. It was definitely interesting.

And yeah, was a little surprised she stuck sexual abuse in a series marketed to middle schoolers. Though considering how violent Animorphs was, I guess it just shows she meant it when she said in some interview she doesn't ever see herself as writing for an intended audience. She just writes, and then her publishers can sell it to whoever they want.

I wonder if the violence is going to be toned down at all. Or if anything is going to be changed in addition to the covers, for that matter.

Like 20% of the animorphs books are crazy awesome, GOOD TIMES!!!

I read the entire series last summer, when I was a kid I read a little over half the books, but grew up too much before it came to an end.

Holy shit, it was way more violent then I remember, so much disemboweling and loss of limbs.

I had a similar experience. As a kid, none of it ever seemed to phase me. But rereading them now, I'm just all, "Waitwaitwait, did she really just strangle a guy with his own intestines?"

Hey I just found everworld pdfs on the internet, i think I'll read them.

that's because as an adult you're more accustomed to thinking about the ramifications of your actions and now violence has a new dimension to it

Plus as an adult I like Cassie way better, sure she sermonizes too much, but damn when she decides to do something unethical, you'd better run.

I remember reading the first few everworlds as a kind and having a huge WTF moment with all the violence, shit, and psychological trauma. Good times. Anamorphs was bad ass, but I stopped reading something like 5 books before the ending. When I learned what I had miss I did not know how to feel.

i don't know who cassie is or what an animorph is i just popped in to explain the deal with violence as an adult vs. as a child
