Is Scrivener the best writing software?

>> No.13437310

The best writing software is Notepad.
You can use HTML for any fancy fonts, paragraph breaks, indentation, italics, bold, or anything of that sort.

>> No.13437313

no, it's emacs

Why the fuck would you want to write in a mediocre text editor, in a markup language that neither provides the quality output of LaTeX or the easy usability of a Markdown?

>> No.13437338

nigga just use microsoft word

>> No.13437352

>>13437338
Why would you ever want to do that?
Seems incredibly painful.

yikes @ latex niggas
roff is built into the system and is fast and clean to write

You forgot:
>The best output you have ever seen

Yes, the LaTeX syntax is awful, but it can do literally everything and make it look great with relative ease.

>roff is built into the system and is fast and clean to write
And the result is pretty bad, honestly, even the fucking pain to change the fonts...

???
It neither has features nor simplicity.
Its entirely pointless.

disagree on this. the outputs look fine, even math and sci stuff. maybe you've been using the manpage pre processor by default? there are many others to choose from

>the outputs look fine, even math
No, mathematics looks absolutely horrible, if formulas get more complex and fonts smaller LaTeX outperforms it by miles, e.g. the fonts are optimized to be legible at smaller scales, Operators scale properly and not just naively, etc.

LaTeX syntax is horrible, I agree, but it lets you do the things you need to do.
I really *tried* to like it but everything was incredibly painful, I even remember trying to change some fucking string in the mom macro set to be in a different language, what a fucking struggle.
LaTeX shines, because it can accomplish everything you could possibly want from a document with relative ease.

> maybe you've been using the manpage pre processor by default?
No, I certainly don't think so, it looked about as "good" as Word would look.
