Catch 22 still holds the record for most times I've laughed aloud at a books joke. Saying that, I never finished it because the same joke kept getting repeated.

i didn't like it very much, didn't fininish it (15 out of 18 episodes and theni gave up and got back to reading books i truly enjoy).
it was my second attempt, first time got halfway through the book but didn't notice the commentary in the end so i barely understood anything

This maybe? At least for me, fucking hate to have to stop every two sentences to look up the meaning Of a word.
Maybe someone can explain to me the purpose of that cus i dont get it yet.

>he didn't grow up with both English and a Slavic language spoken in the house
A Clockwork Orange was some of the most fun I've had reading a book, not just because of Nadsat but because of Alex's run on sentences and the generally chaotic prose, although Nadsat was a big part of it. I can't imagine what the appeal is if you don't immediately know what malenky means

almost like monotony is a major theme of the book

this, I've only ever met people who either saw the light and consider it a masterpiece or missed the point entirely and ended up dismissing it as garbage

I can think of one other poster that's less original, you can find his comment here: >>13417510

I didn't think it was either of those things. It was repetitious and I didn't really care for the characters but still fun to read and with some interesting ideas. I think most of these "extreme opinions" come from really vocal assholes with specific views on what literature should be with very little room for ambiguity (AKA, your average /lit/ poster).

I personally fall into neither camp, but /lit/ is extremely bipolar about IJ, so it's a valid post
