Just picked up The Ego and Its Own. What am I in for?

>> No.13392839

A trip that begins with exictement and curiosity, but ends with indifference and the feeling you wasted your time.

t. me

About the same for me. A rather disappointing, poorly written and thought-out book, well deserving of its low popularity.

Does the poor writing have to do with the translation or Stirner himself? I can tell from the phrasing that the translation might be too literal and sounds weird much of the time.

>> No.13392858

Unironically all of the book is contained in the first 10 pages or so, the rest is just Stirner repeating his silly ideas to make the reader think they're worth considering.

>> No.13392860

justifications that you can use to convince yourself next time your mind tries to rationalize away an "immoral" decision/thought in your head.

Nobody can achieve real egoism unless they can't be made to suffer the repercussions

It makes good material when you are looking for references to write a ego-driven character.

A rough translation, but still a good book.

What a lump of oatmeal you are. Expand on this problem of yours, please.

Translated. It’s a poor translation

The second part also has some parts that delve further into the topic but all in all I agree. There is way too much useless rants about this and that in there.
It should have been a pamphlet for the Ego. Dismissing and shitting on spooks in all kinds of forms. Maybe advocate for the union of egoist if absolutely necessary.
Thats what really was new and interesting about it. His takes on China and all kind of unrelated stuff is just meh.
Still the parts that are relevant shine strong and proud.

It's alright. I prefer Nietzsche for his prose, but Stirner is pretty fun. Avoid modern egoists though, they're autistic

>modern egoists
90% of them on twitter are trannies. Whats up with that?
When I made a twitter ac a few years ago I used a Stirner pic as avatar. Now most of the few followers I have consist of mentally ill retards that spam the same memes and follow literally anything that is in their echo chamber.
What a shitshow.
