13390772 No.13390772 [Reply] [Original]

I read a text when I was in college, and it had something to do with socialization. I remember a specific scenario depicted in which the writer describes a funeral scene in which a woman is crying, but argues that the act is done out of a sort of externalized self image, being that she is doing so while aware and concerned of her appearance while crying. I don't remember if the text was about the social experience of women specifically or if it was part of a bigger piece. Does anybody know what it is that I read?

Porbably Erving Goffman. Or some other Jew, who cares.

I've been trying to remember it for about a year now. I just sort of want to figure out who or where it came from for the sake of closure at this point.
