Hey /lit/. Are there any books that I should read before or during reading the Bible in order to truly appreciate it as literature?

Not really.
You should start from the New Testament, the 4 Gospels at least.
Will make WAY more sense when you read it front to back.
You may also consider reading the Wisdom literature (Job, Ecclesiastes, Proverbs) after the Gospels and before starting at Genesis.

I've already read the gospels (used to read two chapters every day when I was Christian,) so I feel reading the Bible from the beginning would be best. Thanks for the reply.

Yes really.
Read ancient philosophy and earlier creation myths to see where it's coming from.

Just read it in order, although there are some seriously fucking boring parts like The Book of Numbers. The psalms and Book of Job are kino.
