I really liked "the golden asse" for its absurd humor and relateableness and some anon recommended me "the satyricon" and claimed the book was about some guy and his twink boyfriend going on adventures.
But after reading it it's just another compilation of 2000 year old short stories and outside of some weird shit, there was nothing about twinks or gay adventures.

Well it's one of favourites novels. You should value for what's beyond the two faggots adventure. And in a spenglerian sense it depicts the protoform of our present day.

Did you read an expurgated copy or something? It absolutely is 100% about twinkfucking and gay jealousy. Well, actually the main plot was probably supposed to be about how the protagonists bumble into a secret mystery rite and get cursed with permaboners, and then go on a quest to try to free themselves from this curse. But still...

It's not short stories either, the novel is just fragmentary. It wasn't preserved intact through the Dark Ages unfortunately.

Yes I'm pretty sure now I read some butchered German translation. It was really short (~100pages) and most of it was about the feast of Trichondrius.
