A good Christian is a good Buddhist. Gautama has no affiliation with God, so his enlightenment claims without miracles are not as trustworthy as Jesus, who claimed to be the son of God, fulfilling prophecies and performing miracles. Every religion you can possibly name is inferior to Christianity from either a practical or evidential perspective. You either think that all religions are equally probable, or that one is most probable. Which is it?

Respectfully, the relationship between enlightenment and miracles is tenuous at best, and redundant if you're bringing buddhism into the discussion too. My point is simple: if God does not impart the wisdom on you, then you cannot make spectacular metaphysical claims such as about the afterlife, soul, etc. Now Jesus claimed to be the son of God, and in itself that doesn’t prove he is the son of God, but the son of God is a much more credible source of wisdom than a prince having a mid-life crisis. Why should we have faith that Jesus is the son of God? Because of prophecies and miracles, etc.

If a man tells you he learned everything about the soul or afterlife without God, ignore him. If he claims to be sent by God, ask him for some sort of verification (prophecy, miracle, etc.)
