There isn't one. Continual worry about this sort of thing, along with various theological matters, is what ultimately led me to give up Christianity, at least in any institutional sense. That is not to say that I no longer have faith, as I suppose I do to a degree, but reading a theological or historical polemic brings me nothing but despair. If there is one thing I am convinced of, though, it is that Catholicism is false. Any honest examination of the evidence available should make that clear.
